XXIV (2018)

Stream on Bandcamp

For my third album of 2018, I had the idea of composing, mixing and releasing an album on Twitch stream in 24 hours. Thus, XXIV was born; At 4pm on June 23rd 2018, I embarked upon this mammoth task, and despite one of the tracks being named ‘Never Again’ in reference to my mental state at around 2am, I managed to complete 12 tracks by 4pm on June 24th.

The album’s tracks have a mix of styles, with the early electronic tracks coining the “Womblewave” genre thanks to Twitch chat. Later tracks were more mellow, likely due to my eventual exhaustion, but there are some similarities in tone to ‘Malevolent Lands…’ tracks. The album’s final track, ‘What a Story’ went on to feature on 2020’s The Big Beat Manifesto where it was remixed into a full big beat experience.

To aid me with such a demanding stream, I had the help of my friend AJ (HeyitsAJOmega) who encouraged me on when I was tired and in need of a cup of tea. With the help of a quick 20 minute on stream nap, and a pizza from another friend, Nick who was watching the stream, it remains to be seen whether I’ll say ‘Never Again’ to a repeat of this concept.
